These NCO swords are quite scarce. Frederick W. Widmann emigrated to the U.S. in 1816 and set up business in Philadelphia as a die-sinker and (870-279). Blade is semi-bright with a few very minor edge nicks. The blade is bright with light scattered surface pitting. Ames is probably the most desirable maker amongst American sword collectors. The saber has a 34 7/8 inch bright double fuller blade, with "U.S./J.H.C." Guard shows some edge wear, the very good+ grips, US model 1840 NCO dress sword. Maker: N.P.
